09/11:  Route Hawgs Helping Out A Brother

This came to me through the club web site, I got a call from Calvin to see if I could help get this guy's bike to the shop for repairs, When I got there I saw that id was a Royal star and with a flat rear tire I knew that just he and I could not load it, I made a couple of phone calls and the ones I called made a call or two and next thing we knew about 10 minutes later there were about 8 people there to help out. We got it loaded, took it to the shop (Hawg Rider store)and they had him back on the road with a new tire the next day. He was traveling from Alabama to Jax. to visit some friends for a couple of days.

Just thought you all might want to see this, all it was, was a little courtesy to a brother rider.
I would like to thank Calvin Johnson, Joey Johnson, Mike Krause, Dale Leggett, Dickie & David

Greetings fellow bikers,
Just a note of thanks to Jeff Thompson for going WAY beyond the call to duty to call together friends to get my 800 pound Royal Star on to a trailer and back to the shop, then waiting with me while a friend drove out to pick me up. I believe Jeff, along with the Hawg Rider Store were a true God send (literally), and I wanted my appreciation known. Keep up the good work guys.

08/27/2004 - 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron "Dirt Boyz"

On August 27, 2004 the Route Hawgs received an honor that was unexpected while greeting troops coming home from IRAQ.  Joel Neidermeier returned from IRAQ with the rest of his 125th Air force group.  The group had just finished protecting our freedom for over 3 months.

Once greeting his wife and two kids (Renee, Matt and Alex) he presented Bob May with the certificate listed to the right.

On July 3rd the Route Hawgs (both the Macclenny and Jacksonville chapters) participated in "Big D's Patriotic Ride".  This ride was thought up by Big Denise, a member of Route Hawgs, to honor our troops and to spread the patriotic spirit around.  The group of bikers road through the neighborhoods of Macclenny decorated with Red, White and Blue.  Big D hopes to continue on this tradition with all the major holidays.

Accompanying our group was Joel's 10 year old son Matt.  He rode with Bob May and was thrilled to be able to honor his dad. The pictures of the ride were posted on our site and sent to Joel and his group. Click here to view the pictures.

On August 28, 2004 Bob May, president of the Jacksonville chapter, presented Big Denise with the actual certificate.  Bob felt  that Big  D should be honored with the original since Big D inspired the original ride to promote patriotism and let Matt honor his father protecting our freedom

The actual certificate was in a hard blue binder with the Department of the Air Force Insignia on the front.
